Notetakers Northwest was started by Kate Coles who trained as a
touch typist and secretary working as a Personal Assistant to
company directors and head of policy at the BBC. A
change of career, found her working within the D/deaf
community, for over eight years
In
2004, Kate decided to use her fast typing skills to
re-train as an Electronic Notetaker (ENT) for Deaf People,
working for
a number of years in college supporting students and
providing note taking services for business. Kate
obtained her Level 3 ENT for Disabled People and set up Notetakers
Northwest.
With
a Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL), Advanced
BSL Skills for Work along with a Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and
Learning, Kate is the ideal person to provide excellent electronic
communication support within an educational setting and has worked
with both degree students and vocational
students.
Having comprehensive experience of working within large corporations, Kate can accurately type minutes, summary of meetings and work from audio files to provide a verbatim account of meetings; ideal for disciplinary hearings and grievances.
Kate
has an enhanced DBS for working with children and adults along with
professional indemnity and public liability
insurance.
